Omschrijving: Michael Nelson was born in 1949 in the tribe of Warlpiri, to the west of Yuendumu. In 1983 he started painting in Papunya, and is actually one of the most famous Aboriginal artist of Australia. He has only a few paintings, and uses a very apart, personal style in dot-art.
In 1984 he won the 'National Aboriginal Art reward' and in 1987 a huge painting of Michael was hang up in the Sydney Opera House.
He is the designer of a 200m² mosaic at the entrance of the parliamenthouse in Canberra.
In 1993 he received a medal for his contribute to the Aboriginal art.
His paintings are exhibited in the 'National Gallery of Australia' .
